Electrics
The requirements for an electrical supply in a recording studio are very different from those of a domestic system, or an industrial installation.
Transient loading, even with fairly modest monitor amplification, draws momentary currents similar to that of heavy plant, while high gain parts of the audio system can be extremely susceptible to mains borne interference and modulation. As a result, normal wiring practice is not suitable for the technical supplies, and purpose-designed wiring schemes are required, particularly in order to minimimize common impedances between the monitor circuit and other parts of the system.
Earthing an audio system is also a critical area, which often necessitates a wiring scheme very different from the norm if optimum performance is required without compromising safety. Separate clean and dirty earths are often required, especially if any equipment in the system has unbalanced inputs. A star earth point at the jackfield is usually the best way to do the clean earth, with the radial connections bundled in with the audio looms. The dirty earth, to which all the RFI suppression connects, can then be the earth core in the mains wiring.
If you prefer to use your own electricians, we can liaise with them, to ensure that the many pitfalls which await them are avoided. Alternatively we can undertake the full electrical installation ourselves, or install the technical supplies while an ordinary electrical contractor does the rest.
